Mr Beer and BrewDemon Kit Reviews – Level 1

When I started brewing beer I knew it was something I wanted to do. For those that haven’t brewed their own beer, these are Mr Beer and BrewDemon kit reviews which are what you want to start with. You will be able to create your own beer and learn if you like the taste or would rather continue buying your beer from the store. As a note, you will be making beer and not brewing beer.

Clear as Stout? – Does That Make Sense

There you have it, Mr Beer and BrewDemon kit reviews to help you make an informed decision as you begin making beer at home. So how did I come up with my rankings?

  • Cost: Mr Beer is clearly less expensive and if you are just starting you want to keep your costs down.
  • Refill Price: This was is similar. BrewDemon gets the edge by being slightly cheaper.
  • Confidence In Brewing: BrewDemon has less equipment being handled. They also mention the quality of the water in their instructions while Mr Beers mentions tap water.
  • Mirror Next Level(s): BrewDemon’s fermenter is a smaller version of what you would see in a brewery. Both fermenters serve the same purpose which is to leave room below the spout to allow for your yeast to settle as it is used up.

My rankings are made under the assumption you are going to blow by Level 1 as soon as possible. For that reason, I prefer the BrewDemon systems to focus on the fermentation and bottling step. Some of the additional equipment added as you go up in cost can be carried over into the next levels.

That all being said, if you are confident you will be continuing your brewing journey I would skip to Level 2. Mr Beer and BrewDemon both offer 6-gallon batches which is the size you get to in Level 2. The equipment will be able to be used as you progress while most of the equipment above will not be useful.

If you have any questions about the different Level 1 beer systems, comment below or email me at nate@drinkgreatbeers.com

Cheers!
